Charles Richardson Scholarship

The Tribal Convenience Store Association (TCSA) awards two $2,500 scholarships each year to students pursuing trade, technical, or academic education. Eligible applicants must either be employed by a convenience store operated by a TCSA member in good standing or be an immediate family member of a convenience store employee.

Scholarship Requirements
  • Must be employed at a c-store or support staff operated by a current TCSA Member in good standing, or be an immediate family member (spouse, child, or dependent) of a c-store employee.
  • Must continue working for the c-store (if applicable) throughout the scholarship period.
  • Must be enrolled in a trade school, technical program, college, or university. Applicants must maintain continuous enrollment throughout the academic year unless interrupted by illness, emergency, or military service.
  • Must be a United States citizen.

Step 1: Submit Your Application:
Complete the online application form by March 1.

Step 2: Submit Supporting Documents
All supporting documents must be received by March 31. Documents can be:

  • Uploaded directly via the application form
  • Emailed to executivedirector@tribalcstores.org with the subject line: “Chris Richardson Scholarship Supporting Documents: [APPLICANT NAME]
  • Mailed to:
    TCSA
    3118 Judson St., Unit 881
    Gig Harbor, WA 98335
  • Transcript: Official college/university transcripts showing courses taken and grades received.
  • Recommendations: Two letters of recommendation:
    • One must be written by a professor.
    • The second may be by either a professor or your employer.
  • Essay: A personal essay (~500 words) explaining why you are applying for this scholarship, your goals, and how the scholarship will support your success.

The TCSA Scholarship Committee will review all applications and notify selected interview candidates during the first week of April. Only those selected for interviews will be considered further. All final decisions regarding eligibility and award distribution rest solely with the TCSA Scholarship Committee.

Scholarship winners will be announced at the TCSA’s Spring Membership Meeting Annually. 

Scholarship award checks will be mailed to the recipient’s home address, payable to the scholarship recipient’s college or university.
